Wow OK so I have been slacking in the writing department for this month. hhhmmm now where do I begin. OK first off after having a disappointing Color me Rad I went and ran in the Rugged Maniac race on July 18th. It was awesome!! They had the perfect location (was even better since it was so close to home), you got your registration done super quick, the festival area was a lot of fun and yes they had a bunch of porta potties. The obstacles were a blast as well. I love the huge slide and the trampolines... I felt like spider-man. lol I am going to attempt to post the video my son took of me on a couple of the obstacles as they are funny. So Back to the race it was so much fun and I was racing with my fellow Canadian Mudd Queens which always make it a great time. I was pretty excited as my older Brother Ric just happened to be visiting the area that weekend and was able to make it out to watch. I think both he and my son had fun hanging out watching me. Next year I said they both are joining me. So after that weekend of fun I signed up for the Spartan Workout Tour as it finally came to Calgary. That's right I did the two hour workout with my son and some of the Canadian Mudd Queens. Was a total blast but also so very hard. I had a wicked workout Friday night that got me going again and feeling stronger during a workout again. Was a great time with a lot of laughs with the girls. I discovered one thing about doing burpees on freshly cut grassy school field is that when doing burpees you need to turn your head sideways otherwise a blade of grass goes up high in your nose. You see I am so used to doing them on muddy rocky ground so that has never been an issue. Yes I am an awkward dork at times but it's all fun and it's who I am. No plans to change that about me. That afternoon I went with my mom to a painting charity event that my friend and fellow Mudd Queen put on to raise money for our Mudd Queen Charity. Raising funds for kids cancer research and the 100k Relay Race. I actually painted a picture and I enjoyed doing it. I realized I need to be more fluid like and not so rigged. People say they like it and I am my worst critic but I am kinda proud that I painted it and it looks pretty normal. I want to do another one again soon and try my hand at another one. With everything going on this past month my asthma has been pretty even and nothing major to report. Only had to take a puff once during rugged maniac and even that was towards the end when it was starting to heat up even more. I am pretty happy that it seems to still be calm and at times feel like I don't even have it. I can't forget that I do have it because I don't want to be somewhere without my drugs and get into trouble. I've been sore from the workouts but I like that kind of sore feeling and I am still moving forward in a positive way. Living life on my terms has been very liberating. Sure like everyone else I go thru my ups and downs but I never stay there for very long despite everything that has been going on with me. I am following the right path and am always keeping my options open for any new opportunities that may come my way. You just never know what is around that corner waiting for you to discover. I found this article that explains the type of relationship I am looking for. It finally lays it out with how I have been feeling. I don't want to settle and get complacent. I don't want routine and where I loose myself. I have been there and I can't go back to that kind of relationship. Click HERE for the link to the article. As a smart friend of mine said "it doesn't tell you how to get that kind of relationship, you have to figure that out on your own. You need to make yourself happy and complete before that will open up to you". OK so maybe that wasn't his exact words but from all that he said that is how I took it all. It's so true and I am realize that myself. #icompleteme and no one else can. I get it and I am doing it. :) You might have noticed some minor changes. First off I finally have my own domain name now. I know a big step. I wanted to add more to this site but it wasn't letting me so I upgraded and added my own domain which I am happy about. You might even notice a little different theme too. It was time for an upgrade and a change. I am really happy with how this layout and theme is working. It would be great if you could let me know what you think. I like to keep things fresh and updated. Until next time... Rugged Maniac Videos and PicturesSpartan Workout Tour and other fun pics

June was a fairly busy month especially towards the end. With soccer as usual and two races completed we got around. Soccer wise for my son's team they have been moving between 2nd and 3rd place in their division which is so great despite the crappy reffing we have been experience. June 20th my son and friend Jacqui made the drive up to Red Deer AB to partake in the 5K Foam Fest. We met up with some Canadian Mudd Queens and ran it with Kathleen. As usual Kathleen and I made it so much fun. I brought my camera along for the race and we got some really great pics. The race itself was very awesome and well organized. It was a massive fun time and I could do that course again and again it was so much fun. If it comes to your area you got to try it out. You won't regret it. June 27th my son and I did the Color me RAD in Calgary and well lets just say this year (which is our third year) we were disappointed. Having one location to catch the shuttle to the race where as last year they had two locations. One in the south for us people. Then the shuttle to the race wasn't running very often and it was backlogged. The drive to the race on the shuttle was long. Once there they never called out when the waves were to start and also this year there was no bag check so we had to run with our stuff. Once they let people go we always got stopped at each color station. We did really like the liquid color mixed with the powder stuff. The setup itself was OK but this year they didn't have enough porta potties so the lineup was long. We decided three years was enough and it's time we move onto another race to do together. The first two years just ran way more smoothly and was just that much more fun. Both races my knee held up really good and no major issues. Asthma was well controlled too. It's been great being able to enjoy these without too much worries. With my knee I only went around one obstacle at Foam Fest as I didn't want to aggravate it. The knee sleeve helps protect it and remind me a bit to not be a hero while doing these fun ones. My knee laser treatments are done and the knee is good to go again. So happy and relieved over that. I can giver again for the Spartans. I will also be able to still get my double trifecta. My next race is July 18th at Rugged Maniac in Calgary with Jacqui, hopefully another friend Kaire and a bunch of the Canadian Mudd Queens. Can't wait and looking forward to trying another new race that came up here. Not much else to report so will leave you with a few more pics from the last two races. Just looking forward to the next few weekends. Until Next time... |
