I know it's been awhile again but now that the nice weather is here I am outside running lots or out doing yard work and trying to get my garden in.
I've made some major headway with my running and my furthest distance I've covered is back up to just over 10km last week. I've also planned out my long run coming up in the next couple of weeks before May is gone and then about 2 weeks before my Half Marathon I need to complete that same distance again and then start to taper off. After my long run I felt great and the next morning I went and did run circuit training with stairs, sprints, ab work and some light jogging with my gals Lisa and Carrie. I love those days! So now that the weather is warmer and some days been hotter I have had to re-train my lungs to deal with the heat again. They just got used to the cool air and were liking it but now they are being stubborn but I take fast walking (speed walking) breaks when running to allow my breathing to return to normal before I continue so I don't end up with an asthma attack out here in the middle of nowhere. Another reason why I run with my phone... not only for my run app and music but in-case I ever run into trouble with my lungs. Not sure how the puppy would help me other then keeping me company. lol
I am wanting to compete in different races now because well.... running is great but why not add some more new elements into things to make life more interesting. I am wanting to complete a Super Sprint Triathlon as well a Duathlon. So a Super Sprint Triathlon is swimming 500m, bike 12km then run 5km and a Duathlon is just biking and running. I know I think I've been bitten by the racing bug but also to try newer races to keep me challenged and trying new things. If I am doing these this year what will I attempt next year.... hhmmm. I'm sure I'll come up with some other crazy idea!
With all this training I was feeling tired and run down but now have gotten into it that if I miss a day it really sucks and throws me off! I am still hitting the gym 2 to 3 days a week and running 2 -3 days a week and now taking my son to soccer all over 3 nights a week as he's on a U10 Travel Team.... so far they are kicking butt and won both games so far! :) Yes proud Momma!
It's not long now about 7 weeks till my first race which is the Color me RAD 5k on June 29th which I cannot wait to go and experience with my son. Even though I have to walk it... it will be something great that I can do with my son and a fun warm-up to my Half Marathon (13.1 miles or 21.1km) July 1st. Then no races until August 10th when I will be competing in the Mud Hero 6km Obstacle race with my team of over 15 other crazy people and again so excited to be doing that. Then if training goes well my Triathlon on Sept, 7th.... but August 18th there is a Duathlon too... Still figuring things out as I gotta squeeze in family time too.
Went golfing with some family on Sunday and I just did nine holes for my first time out this year. I gotta say I was hitting the ball farther when I did hit it properly. Now if I can connect like that all the time I would be a pretty good golfer and the hubby would have to worry about me kicking his butt instead of him just worrying about keeping up with his father. lol
Will try and write more but adding a picture of me after running over 10km on May 2nd!! Happy Happy Happy!
I am a single mom with one son that has been living with asthma since I was 2yrs old. I also almost died three times due to severe asthma attacks! I don't let my asthma stop me from accomplishing new goals and living life to the fullest.
